Caroline Morey

Caroline Morey comes from a long line of Ceron de Beaune vignerons and is also married to Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. In 2014 Caroline took her part of some family vineyards from her father Jean-Marc and created her domaine based in Chassagne-Montrachet, now sharing her new cellar with her husband Pierre-Yves.

For the first vintage produced by Caroline in 2014, small parcels are used in Chassagne-Montrachet both for red and white along with small parcels in Santenay and Hautes Cotes de Beaune for a total of only 2.4 hectares. With the addition of other vineyards in the next 2 years, the total will increase to 4.5 hectares in total. His family parcels were about half for red wines and half for white wines, so Caroline has always been very comfortable making red wines and is clearly skilled even with whites. Caroline's approach in the cellar shows a light touch similar to that of her husband who uses mostly 350 liter barrels with no more than 30% of new wood and no battonage for white wines. For red wines it adapts to each parcel and every vintage without a given rule. The style is concentrated with a core of pure fruit and at the same time citrus and minerality as a guideline.
