Chateau La Lagune

Boasting a beautiful location on the left bank of Bordeaux, Château La Lagune is one of the finest references in the Haut-Médoc appellation. Since 2004, Caroline Frey has invested her skills and dedication in order to elevate Château La Lagune to the very height of its appellation. Château La Lagune is a Haut-Médoc wine made from 80 hectares of vines that are planted on a gravelly hillside. The vines are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic farming practices.

A cold, wet winter preceded a mild, dry month of March that favoured budburst. The frosts on the nights of the 7th and 8th of April had an impact on 10% of the vineyard. Although the mild and humid spring fuelled the fear of mildew pressure, the teams’ expertise and the use of plant-based teas preserved the vineyard’s healthy condition. More clement conditions were recorded from mid-July onwards. The rainfall in September did not affect the ripening or the health of the vineyard. The harvested grapes revealed aromatic, balanced and colourful Merlot grapes. The aromatic richness of the Petit Verdot grapes blends with the tannic structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Despite the gentle extractions, the rapid fermentations reveal a beautiful colour mixed with a delicate tannic structure. Post-fermentation hot maceration to develop the complexity and structure of the wines.
