Domaine Guy Amiot is a world famous family estate that was created in 1910 and produces white and red wines coming from the best terroirs of Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Saint Aubin and Santenay.
Arsène and Flavie Amiot founded the domaine in 1920 with the purchase of three vineyard plots that would later form part of the Le Montrachet Grand Cru-classified vineyard in 1937. The family gradually accrued further vineyard plots in Chassagne-Montrachet, including the likes of Premier Cru Les Demoiselles in Puligny-Montrachet and Les Chaumées in Chassagne-Montrachet. The domaine's namesake, Guy Amiot, took control in 1985, before passing on his managerial responsibilities to his sons (and current owners) Thierry and Fabrice. The majority of Domaine Amiot Guy et Fils' Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines were planted between the years of 1920 and 1930. The Chardonnay vines encompassed within the domaine's parcel of Le Montrachet were first planted in 1920. Here, the vines occupy south-facing slopes comprising clay and limestone soils. After harvesting by hand, these grapes are crushed and then fermented in 100 percent new French oak barrels. This is followed by battonage and malolactic fermentation, before the wine is first aged for 12 months in barrel and a further 6 months in a single tank prior to bottling. In addition to its grand and premier crus, the domaine's portfolio also comprises village-level wines from Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Meursault and Bouzeron, including several Vieilles Vignes expressions. This range sits alongside the domaine's offerings of Bourgogne Aligoté, Blanc and Rouge wines, as well as sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne.
The 4th generation is now running the 12 hectares estate, with respect for the environment. Domaine Guy Amiot is one of the 15 owners sharing the plot of Montrachet Grand Cru.
