The family-run Champagne House Franck Bonville traces its roots back to 1900 when visionary Alfred Bonville acquired plots of land only a few years after the ravages of phylloxera on the Champagne vineyards.
In 1937, Alfred Bonville and his son Franck acquired a winegrower's house in the heart of Avize on Côte des blancs in order to make their own Champagne, but it wasn't until the aftermath of the Secsecond world war that Franck began to market the first cuvées under his own name and to expand the Domaine on the Avize terroir. In 1970, their son Gilles and his wife Ingrid joined the family business and modernized the technical tools with more appropriate technology. Their son Olivier, with a degree in oenology and extensive winemaking experience in Corsica and Germany, joined them in 1996, representing the fourth generation. It was also at this time that Gilles decided to manage the vineyard in a sustainable way.
House Franck Bonville specializes in Cuvées Blanc de blancs en Grand Cru d'Avize, one of the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Blancs. The Domaine vineyard is spread over 15 hectares across three villages classified as Grand Cru: Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The grapes are picked at perfect ripeness, reflecting the purest expression of their terroir. Once vinification is complete, the bottles are aged for between 2 1/2 and 6 years in cellars located in underground millstone galleries dating back to the 19th century.
The cuvée Brut Blanc de blancs Grand Cru reflects the DNA of Maison Franck Bonville, it's a Champagne that combines freshness, finesse and elegance. It's perfect as an aperitif or with a seafood platter.
The Unisson Grand Cru delivers a more refined, warmer expression. With fine bubbles, great elegance and an aromatic framework focused on citrus and white flower notes, it will delight the most curious taste buds as an aperitif as well as with refined dishes.
Succumb to the charm of Cuvée Pur Avize 2015 and its notes of flowers, almond paste and white-fleshed fruit. Produced from 3 parcels of Chardonnay from the Avize terroir, this is a noble, creamy Champagne with great freshness, ideal as an aperitif as well as with generous fish dishes.
