L'Hêtre Côtes de Castillon is a barrel-aged red wine made according to ecological principles with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties in Bordeaux by Jacques Thienpont.
For the last 10 years, this estate was run under the name of Château Goubau. However, when Jacques Thienpont discovered the excellent location of its terroirs, he decided to invest in the project with his sister Anne De Raeymaeker. They then had the opportunity to buy the neighbouring estate: Château La Montagne, and they renamed it L'Hêtre (beech tree in French). L'Hêtre Côtes de Castillon comes from vines lying on a limestone plateau and others on clay, limestone and chalk soil slopes. The vineyards enjoy a good southeast exposure with a gentle and continuous breeze. Organic farming has been used since before Thienpont was the owner and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimal point of ripeness.
When the grapes have been selected in the winery, L'Hêtre Côtes de Castillon ferments with native yeasts in concrete and oak tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in a mixture of first-year and second-year wooden barrels. L'Hêtre Côtes de Castillon is a red wine from the heart of Bordeaux. A glamorous wine made in an area with great winemaking history.
