Tenuta di Bibbiano is located in an area where grapevines have been grown since the 11th century. In 1865 the Marzi Marrocchesi family bought the estate. Wine-growing started under Pier Tommaso Marzi and his son-in-law Alfredo Marrocchesi between 1950 and 1970, with the help of famed winemaker Giulio Gambelli (who started working in Chianti in 1942, also famous for his long relationships with Montevertine, Poggio di Sotto and Case Basse di Soldera), Dr Paolo Vagaggini and Professor Trabalzini. The vineyards have been expanded by the next generation via brothers Tommaso Marrocchesi and Federico Marrocchesi, who succeeded their parents Alfredo and Marzia.
