Yves Ruffin has been doing organic farming since 1971. The vineyard of three hectares is situated to the north of Epernay in the Marne Valley, which is the cradle of Champagne, famous for its Pinot Noir. It grows in the heart of the hillsides of Champagne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015, in the villages of Avenay Val d’Or and Tauxières, both ranked “Premier Cru”. This appellation distinguishes terroirs whose favorable, natural conditions yield wines of exceptional quality.
Yves Ruffin rejected the use of pesticides newly arrived. He chose to continue using historical techniques of winegrowing: the use of ploughs to control grassing and Bordeaux mixture to fight against diseases.
